Healthy Lunches

Sheffield Wildlife Trust has launched a ‘Healthy Lunches’ project, funded by the Big Lottery Fund’s Local Food scheme. The project will work with young people from three Sheffield secondary schools to raise awareness of local food and explore how it can improve their diets, particularly at lunch times.  Through getting to know young people and listening to their views, we’ll develop activities that help them consider changes to their diets in relevant and empowering ways. During the project we will identify barriers to young people accessing healthy diets and work with them to address these. This will include exploring ways to make quality local food more accessible and available, cooking sessions, growing projects, taste tests, and creating a general buzz around delicious, healthy local food.

So far young people have got involved with traditional apple pressing, healthy eating lunch clubs and some are even trying to break the world record for the largest fruit salad!!!
